Taking Back To The Skies Safely & Responsibly With Rocketrip’s 3s Initiative

Sustainability, savings, and safety for business travel—introducing the 3S initiative from Rocketrip

As business travel continues to show signs of recovery, it goes without saying that the climate for business travel has changed. There is no road map, no one path back, each company is doing what they think is right for their employees and business. Business travel safety is undoubtedly a top priority for companies as they return to travel, but in conversations with our colleagues, peers and customers we have found that sustainability and managing travel budgets continue to be important components of a good game plan.

Like many companies, we spent a significant amount of time during the pandemic, thinking about how business travel would be different and how we could continue to invest and build the Rocketrip platform to meet the demands of a rapidly changing landscape for corporate travel. We asked ourselves and our customers a simple question, “What will be important for business travelers and their companies after the pandemic?” The answers we heard most often, centered on the three fundamental pillars of what we call the 3Ss: Safety, Sustainability, and Savings.

Introducing Rocketrip 3S, the result of two years of investment in technology to bring to market product features that help corporate travel managers and companies keep their employees safe, improve their corporate travel sustainability practices, and manage travel budgets as travel returns.

For Savings, our platform continues to deliver on its core mission to incentivize employees to make travel decisions that reduce costs by 20% on average, with no change in OBT or TMC workflow. And we’ve added even more rewards and simplified redemptions to make the process more rewarding and fun for employees.

For Safety, we partnered with Sherpa, to give travel managers detailed, real-time destination information about Covid safety and restrictions, visa requirements, and other pertinent travel information. Travel managers get real-time duty of care information, employees gain peace of mind when making business travel safety decisions.

For Sustainability, we partnered with ThrustCarbon to deliver real-time Co2 emissions data for every trip and integrate historical carbon emissions information directly into the Rocketrip admin tools so travel managers can view and offset carbon emissions for a company’s entire travel program by month, quarter, or year, directly in-app.

Let’s break it down more in-depth.

Safety

Travel restrictions and regulations are changing on a daily basis, we know it can be a challenge to keep track of all the latest covid safety requirements related to testing, proof of vaccination, visa requirements, travel advisories, etc.

To help reduce the uncertainty of travel, our new partnership with Sherpa allows us to deliver real-time destination information specific to the business traveler’s itinerary.

Will the traveler need a covid test on the way there? On the way back? Will the traveler need to show proof of vaccination? Are there quarantine requirements where the traveler is going? What are the visa requirements? Are there natural or civil disaster alerts?

These and other questions are immediately answered for the traveler directly in the travel booking search results so they can make safe, reliable, and informed decisions without spending time researching answers from multiple sources. Additionally, travel managers have a real time duty of care view of their employee’s travel destinations, with the ability to quickly highlight high risk destinations with the click of a mouse.

Rocketrip features empower business travel safety, allowing travelers to make informed decisions about their personal safety when booking travel as well as give travel managers the tools they need to manage duty of care with more transparency.

Sustainability

Along with safety, sustainability has jumped to the forefront of the issues that are important to companies and their employees. Naturally, visibility into a company’s travel program carbon footprint has become essential, as well as options to offset those emissions.

Rocketrip is pleased to announce our partnership with ThrustCarbon. Now, Rocketrip customers have the ability to view, track and manage their travel program’s emissions seamlessly via the Rocketrip travel manager insights platform. We integrated ThrustCarbon’s emissions data directly into the Rocketrip application and make it available to customers at no added cost.

With Rocketrip, travel managers now have real-time visibility into a comprehensive dashboard that tracks carbon emissions by employee, department, or travel type.

How does having integrated ThrustCarbon data help make a difference to the environment? Easy. Travel managers have the flexibility to offset their company’s travel emissions by seamlessly purchasing certified carbon offsets directly in the Rocketrip admin panel. In fact, the cost savings alone from the Rocketrip platform can fund these offsets so a company can easily and quickly get their travel program to carbon neutral.

Savings

As employees start returning to business travel, managing a growing travel budget will once again be paramount for travel managers. For current Rocketrip customers like Twitter and BMW, Rocketrip’s Price to Beat recommendation engine is an integral part of their travel cost mitigation strategy and as travel starts to pick up, now is a good time to consider whether it should be part of yours.

Here is how it works.

Based on your historical travel trends, your travel policy and current market data, the Rocketrip algorithm sets a Price to Beat (P2B) for every air and hotel search your employee conducts. If the employee chooses an itinerary below the P2B, the employee and employer split the savings. The employee receives Rocketrip points that can be redeemed in the rewards store for a variety of gift cards and the employer realizes direct savings from the choice of a lower priced itinerary.

For example, if the P2B for a flight search is $950, and the employee chooses an itinerary for $750, then the traveler receives $100 in reward points and the company saves $100. Win-Win!

We are excited to introduce Rocketrip 3S to the market and look forward to showing you how incorporating Rocketrip into your existing business travel program allows companies to prioritize Savings, Safety, and Sustainability. Rocketrip seamlessly integrates with your existing OBT and in conjunction with your TMC negotiated rates.
